Artificial Intelligence across various key sectors” by Prof. Thrishantha
Nanayakkara, Director of Morph Lab and Professor of Robotics at Imperial College
London, and Founder of Permia Sensing Ltd.
3:00 PM – 3:20 PM: Break
3:20 PM – 4:20 PM: Presentation 2 –
“Health Epidemics in the Dry Zone of Sri Lanka” by Kamal Gammampila, MPhil, PhD, DIC. This presentation will cover the
significant health statistics including: ‘In Sri Lanka, 5,800 are born with a birth defect
annually, and 11% die before their first birthday, making it the second leading cause
of infant mortality. Additionally, there are 1,900 stillbirths each year’, according to WHO
(2022). Kamal is a Biomedical Researcher at the National Heart & Lung Institute,
Imperial College, London, and an Independent Medical Scientist in the UK.
